What is the Northeast Florida Women's Sailing Network?
The Northeast Florida Women's Sailing Network is an informal organization of women interested in sailing. Some members own their boats and have been racing for years. Others are interested in learning more about sailing and still other women are interested in learning more about racing.
Our purpose is to provide a network among women with or without sailing experience to allow us to grow in sailing knowledge and ability through:
* sharing sailing experiences,
* educational sessions,
* teaching others, and
* sailing together
The network offers women sailors and those interested in sailing a chance to get together with others who have similar interests. On-the-Water-Sail and Workshops and cruising experiences are held throughout the year. The number and types of events planned are only limited by the members enthusiasm and imagination.
Members receive unlimited opportunities to get involved in sailing and opportunity to receive a racing award when participating in the women's racing series. Northeast Florida Women's Sailing Network
Some things we do...
* Women's Sailing Series- consisting of a series of four races scheduled throughout the year, expressly for women sailors, is coordinated through the network. These races are sponsored by four different clubs in the Jacksonville area, each organizing its own race and presenting awards to the winners. The results are then forward to the Women's Sailing Network for inclusion in scoring the Series and trophies are award in each class at the First Coast Sailing Association's annual meeting the following January.
Classes include PHRF Spinnaker and PHRF Non-Spinnaker with all-female crews.
PHRH Non-Spinnaker and PHRF Cruiser Classes with a mixed crew-with at least 50% female and the helms person for the entire race must be female.
